This advert is promoting Ne-Yo’s album ‘Year of the Gentlemen’ the photo itself is the same as the album cover. This helps our target audience to relate to the album and the artist. Ne-Yo is placed in the central of the frame connoting power and status which reinforces male stereotypes of being powerful and in control this is also portrayed through the fancy suit as it indicates wealth. The lighting is high key this creates verisimilitude. The artists name is in a simple bold font which draws audience’s attention as they can familiarize of who the album belongs to. ‘Year of the Gentlemen’ Is in fancy writing this shows an indication of elegance. There is white font which says ‘NEW ALBUM NOW IN STORES’ this is effective as it contrasts with the plain simple background but it also indicates that this is an advertisement.

This is an advertisement for Akon’s latest album ‘Freedom’. What stands out to me is the picture of Akon himself as the main picture is not of the album cover. He is in the foreground of the frame this yet again connotes power and wealth. There is a small image of the album itself in the corner this allows audiences to relate and familiarize in what the advert is advertising. The artists name is at the top in bold white which contrasts with the blue background. The middle font is very effective as you can not miss it. The colours contrast very well as it makes the advertisement look attractive which persuades audiences to buy the album.

There is a huge contrast between the two pictures of Beyonce in this advert promoting her album ‘I AM SASHA FIERCE’ the picture on the left is her looking simple and beautiful where on the right she is looking glam and fierce which contrasts with the bold title below that picture. Both pictures are in the foreground which connotes power and challenges female stereotypes of being in the background and weak. The bold font stands out enabling audiences to relate to the artist and who this advertisement is for. The font which says Beyonce is in silver and the font which says Sascha Fierce is in gold this shows the contrast between the two images.
This advertisement is promoting new R&B artist Shontelle’s new album shontelligence. A close up is used, this close up represents the artists facial expressions which appear to be laid back and relaxed but she also is portrayed as a strong independent woman. This allows audiences to relate to the artist and get a grasp of what the album is about. The advert is mainly in black and white this colour scheme allows the font to stand out even more. Shontelle’s name is in orange, this stands out really well, and this convention allows audiences to familiarize with who the artist is and what they are advertising. In the corner it features what songs are included in the album, again this is a simple but effective way of captivating consumer’s attention.
“Battlefield” is the latest album from Jordin Sparks. The first thing which immediately draws your attention is the font promoting the album. The white and red font is very effective as both colours stand out. The word battlefield is in red, this could be a representation of blood as battles relate to blood. Also the red font can connote life, so audiences get different interpretations of what the album is about. There is a picture on the left hand side which actually has a picture of the album, this allows audiences to relate to the album and artist which is being promoted. The background is simple, this is so more attention is drawn to the artist. Lighting again is high key in order to create verisimilitude.

Leona looks very sweet and angelic on her album cover, this relates to the name of the album spirit. This could connote that her album is spiritual and based on innocence. Leona’s name is written in big across the advert, this makes it clear to consumers who this advertisement is promoting. The font Spirit is in white font where as the rest of the text is in black. Again this indicates elegance and that this album is pure. The background colour scheme is pastel like. These colours are soft bright again referring that this album is a happy album with a spiritual context. This connotes what type of artist Leona Lewis is and also helps audiences relate to her and her music. This advertisement is the album cover itself making it easier to recognize who the artist is.
